OpenFAST Workshop

A workshop on OpenFAST—the multi-physics-based engineering model applicable to the coupled loads-analysis simulation of wind turbines and related technologies—will be held in conjunction with the NAWEA / WindTech 2026 Conference in Portland, Oregon on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 23. The workshop will be hosted by Dr. Jason Jonkman of the National Laboratory of the Rockies and Prof. Emmanuel Branlard of the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. This side event is free and open to anyone who registers for the NAWEA / WindTech conference (although registration is limited and separate) and will be located at the Smith Memorial Student Union at Portland State University (the conference venue) in room Parkway North, from 1:30-5pm. The business meeting will introduce new Governing Board members and report on NAWEA status and operations. The Conference Committee will review current and future conference plans. The Education Committee will present the status of WEFI, as well as progress on initiatives to establish student chapters and the effort to endorse courses to be posted for interested students. The meeting will conclude with an open discussion of the future of NAWEA and how to further its mission of supporting wind energy research and education in North America.
